Intergenerational diversity management in Nashik’s hospitality sector: A transformative approach for gen z engagement
Shinde Suvarna R and Nutan N Thoke
This paper investigates intergenerational diversity management in Nashik’s dynamic hospitality sector, focusing on 25 above three-star hotel managers (primarily Gen X and Millennials) and 100 Gen Z employees. The analysis confirms that while the city’s burgeoning hotel industry attracts a predominantly young, digitally native workforce, a significant gap persists between the career expectations of Gen Z employees and the traditional, often hierarchical, management approaches of older generations. The empirical findings highlight pervasive communication challenges, fundamentally differing values around work-life balance, and limited engagement strategies. Based on a targeted survey and a synthesis of current literature, the paper recommends the urgent adoption of flexible work models, robust cross-generational mentorship programs, and adaptive, technology-integrated leadership approaches. These recommendations are designed to transform generational diversity from an operational friction point into a potent operational advantage, thereby enhancing employee engagement, reducing attrition, and bolstering organizational resilience in a highly competitive market.
