This research paper investigates the gendered impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on work-life balance among employees in the Information Technology (IT) sector in Delhi-NCR, with a particular focus on women professionals. Through a qualitative methodology comprising in-depth interviews and six case studies with three women and three men employees, the study explores how remote work during the pandemic reshaped work environments, intensified domestic responsibilities, and exposed systemic workplace inequalities. The analysis highlights how women, especially those who became primary earners or continued pursuing their careers amidst caregiving expectations, faced disproportionate burdens, emotional strain, and career penalties. Conversely, the experiences of male employees demonstrate how adaptability, self-management, and organisational flexibility influenced more positive outcomes. The findings underscore the urgent need for gender-sensitive workplace policies, flexible work arrangements, and cultural change to support sustainable and equitable remote work environments. This study contributes to ongoing discussions about restructuring workplace norms and addressing gender inequalities intensified by global crises.
